Pass The Parcel (PTP), powered by Post Haste Couriers was developed to provide an easy way for people to courier their items around New Zealand, whether it’s B2C or C2C. To promote their consumer-centric offering Pass The Parcel has been a proud sponsor of the Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon since 2016 and we have had the pleasure of working with them to develop a creative sponsorship campaign.

An integral part of this sponsorship campaign was starting the conversation about how to send out the TRYathlete Event Kits – the main aspect of Pass The Parcel’s sponsorship involvement. Previously it had been sent out in a traditional courier pack, something easily discarded and forgotten. So to create more impact and leave a lasting brand impression we designed a PTP branded courier box instead, with the intention that kids would keep it, along with their memorabilia, long after the event.

We were then tasked with the creation of an event day activation, something active and enjoyable for the kids, which would reaffirm the Pass The Parcel brand. The result was a fun game where kids had a go at being a courier – running courier parcels from a ‘van’ to a doorstep and seeing who out of their friends could deliver the most parcels in 20 seconds. The activation was a huge success and thousands of kids participated in the event.

Further areas of sponsorship involvement was the design, production, warehousing and distribution of branded merchandise including hacky sacks, water pouches and maze pens – all given out to the kids that participated in the event day activation. We were also running radio ads from our ‘Sending Made Simple’ campaign (view here) and managing Pass The Parcel’s social media accounts including ticket giveaways for the TRYathlon events.

All in all, the feedback from the first year was that the campaign was a huge hit and with the 2017/2018 TRYathlon events now in full-swing we’re looking forward to an even more successful second year!
